Notes from Poland

About the company

Founded in 2006, Notes from Poland started as a social-media service providing news summaries and insights about Poland. It grew into a leading independent English-language news source, gaining popularity on Facebook and Twitter.
The website, launched in 2019, was recognized by the Financial Times in 2021.

PRO-BONO

egforit offers its broad range of technology services on a pro-bono basis for small yet valuable projects for NFPs and NGOs internationally, sourcing such opportunities via Tech to the Rescue – a platform that connects technology companies like egforit to nonprofits organisations around the world.

The Challenge

Given the only source of funding for Notes from Poland is its readers’ donations, the challenge at hand was to use modern technology to be able to increase the flow of funding by developing an improved and secure monthly recurring donation facility.

The Solution

egforit  was able to develop and integrate a new, all-in-one donation process whereby a simple, new workflow has better enabled readers to commit to monthly donations. Within two months, Notes from Poland saw a 414% increase in its funding via donations, thus securing its short-term future and enabling it to continue to provide its crucial independent news source.

donorbox

Our new reader donation box created by egforit Software on a pro bono basis streamlined the payment process with a new clear, intuitive, fast and user-friendly system that also added the entirely new function of monthly (rather than just one-off) contributions.

Since we launched the new donation box, the average monthly amount we receive in support from readers has increased by 414% compared to our previous system.

Working with egforit Software has been a fantastic experience for our small non-profit media foundation. They provided the kind of expertise that we would never normally be able to afford. The tech solutions they implemented have helped us boost our reader donations over fivefold

The matching of egforit Software and Notes From Poland via Tech To The Rescue resulted in introducing a new donation feature that directly increased donations for this non-profit initiativeThanks to the helpfulness of the wonderful egforit Software team and their quick response to the request, Notes From Poland was able to open a new funding channel to continue its great mission

Analytics

Analytics cookies collect information that is used either in aggregate form to help us understand how our Websites are being used or how effective our marketing campaigns are, or to help us customise our Websites for you.

Google Analytics
The cookie _gcl_au is used by Google Analytics to understand user interaction with the website.

For example, in order for Google Analytics to determine that two distinct hits belong to the same user, a unique identifier, associated with that particular user, must be sent with each hit.

The analytics.js library accomplishes this via the Client ID field, a unique, randomly generated string that gets stored in the browsers cookies, so subsequent visits to the same site can be associated with the same user.

By default, analytics.js uses a single, first-party cookie named _ga to store the Client ID, but the cookie's name, domain, and expiration time can all be customized. Other cookies created by analytics.js include _gid, AMP_TOKEN and _gac_. These cookies store other randomly generated ids and campaign information about the user.
