Golden data management solutions

National institution gains a ‘golden’ view of HR with our golden data management service

egforit Software designed and delivered data management solutions and underlying ETL workload that provided a “golden record” of HR data.

Executive brief

Unifying global systems with data storage

Our client is a religious institution with over 16,400 locations and more than 20,000 workers. Through its services, schools, and charity work, the organisation is a vital part of many communities in the Egypt , middle east. The organisation asked us to create a data management solution that would allow non-technical staff to review HR data and eliminate any duplicates or errors quickly.

This project yielded the following results:

increased efficiency

accurate data reporting

software scalability

easy access to data

The challenge

HR data was hard to manage

At the time of this project, the organisation relied heavily on HR records that were strewn with duplicate and inaccurate data. The HR team was in desperate need of a way to cleanse and unify this data.

The drawbacks of working from disparate data sources were:

  • duplicated data led to HR inaccuracies
  • regulatory risk of mishandling HR documents
  • tracking down HR data was time intensive

The organisation needed a data storage solution that would be able to meet the regulatory requirements of the business confidently. It was also important for the client to quickly identify and resolve duplicate data. Finally, the client needed a process that could report on the percentage of records containing data within certain identified fields

Essentially, the organisation needed to find ways to:

  • save time searching for personnel data
  • reduce human error in their HR operations

It was clear that efficient data management solutions were needed to overcome these HR challenges.

The solution

Building a new data management platform

The client was aware of our reputation as portal development experts. This made us the clear choice to build the client’s HR data portal solution.

We designed and delivered a digital business platform and underlying ETL workload that provided access to the “golden record” of data. The workload also prepared the data for migration to Oracle HCM Cloud Platform via the creation of a “Data Stewardship Portal”.

With the new portal, key metrics and data were exposed to aid data process. Users could view suggested potential matches of people from the different source systems and could amend them accordingly. These features combined help the client determine the ‘golden record’ of information.

The benefits

A go-to source for trusted data

The prime outcome of the data management solutions was a central location where users could access all HR data. Our client’s HR team was able to access all the information they needed during the employee life cycle.

A few of the other benefits this solution brought for the employees and the company were:

  • centralised access to HR data
  • eliminated chances of human error
  • modernised the client’s data processes
  • saved time for the HR team

This project demonstrated the value of digital portals to the client’s leadership, supporting their quest for modernisation. Based on this and past successes, the client has continued to partner with us in its digital transformation.

Google Analytics
The cookie _gcl_au is used by Google Analytics to understand user interaction with the website.

For example, in order for Google Analytics to determine that two distinct hits belong to the same user, a unique identifier, associated with that particular user, must be sent with each hit.

The analytics.js library accomplishes this via the Client ID field, a unique, randomly generated string that gets stored in the browsers cookies, so subsequent visits to the same site can be associated with the same user.

By default, analytics.js uses a single, first-party cookie named _ga to store the Client ID, but the cookie's name, domain, and expiration time can all be customized. Other cookies created by analytics.js include _gid, AMP_TOKEN and _gac_. These cookies store other randomly generated ids and campaign information about the user.
